How it works
Welcome to MeMyFood — glad you're here. Here's everything the app does and the easiest place to start.
Welcome
MeMyFood is your everyday food companion: it reads product labels for you, turns whatever you already have into a proper meal, keeps an eye on your allergies, and helps you spend less on the shop. You don't need to learn anything first — pick whichever job you need today and the app fills in the rest.
1. Create your profile (best results)
Setting up a profile is the one step that personalises everything. Tell us your goal — losing weight, maintaining your weight or gaining weight — plus your calorie and macro targets, your allergies, the cuisines and flavours you like, and the country and language you're cooking in.
From then on:
- Every label or barcode you scan is graded against your goal, not a generic average.
- Recipes and meal ideas are built around your targets and skip your allergens.
- Your dashboard fills up over time: intake vs goals, recent scans, saved recipes.
Start here: create an account then open your profile and pick a goal.
2. Prefer not to set anything up? That's fine too
Without a profile the app still works as a personal shopping and cooking guide: scan labels on the go while you're in the aisle, check barcodes on packaged food, generate a healthy meal from what's in the fridge at home, or just experiment with dishes and ingredients you're curious about. You can add a profile later and nothing is lost.
3. Scanning: labels and barcodes
Point your camera at a nutrition label and you get a plain-English breakdown with a simple traffic-light verdict — green, amber or red — based on your goal, plus a loud warning if the product touches one of your saved allergens. Barcodes work the same way and pull the product's official label data, including "may contain" traces. When something looks off-target, the app suggests similar but better picks.
4. Cooking: recipes from what you have
Three ways in: Meal Maker if you have a craving and want the shopping list and method built for you, By dish if you already know the dish name and just want the ingredients and steps, and Generate a recipe if you want to list what's in the fridge and be given something healthy to make with it. Recipes come in your chosen language, respect your allergies, and can be saved, shared or downloaded as a PDF.
5. Shop the ingredients for less
Once you have a recipe, tap Shop ingredients and the app compares your list across supermarkets near you, shows estimated totals, and links straight to the right grocery section of each store. It adapts to where you are — travelling or living abroad, you'll be pointed at local shops and local currency rather than the wrong country's chain.
6. Eating out: check a dish before you order
Dining out lets you photograph a restaurant menu, type a dish name, or scan the barcode of a packaged item, and get the likely ingredients, an allergen read-out, and nutrition information. Deliberately, there are no verdicts or traffic lights here — when you're out, you're treating yourself. You also get useful questions to ask staff.
Important: AI allergen results are guidance only, never a guarantee. Always confirm with restaurant staff or the product label before eating something you react to. AI results may include mistakes.
7. Your day, tracked
The dashboard adds up what you've logged against your targets and keeps your scan and recipe history in one place, so patterns show up without you having to keep notes.
8. Add it to your home screen — no app store needed
MeMyFood installs straight from your browser. Tap Download app and follow the one-tap prompt: an icon appears on your home screen and it opens full-screen like any other app. There's no app-store download, no waiting, and it takes up virtually no storage on your phone. Updates arrive automatically — you'll simply be nudged to refresh when a new version is ready.
